LMCD Occupational Health & Safety Reviews

14 December 2011

Ray Cooke visited LMCD's Port Hedland office for 3 days to review and ensure all new items agreed upon during our October review have now been completed and implemented.

Dampier Salt kindly made available their Health & Safety Advisor to meet with LMCD and Ray Cooke and LMCD in order for us to fully understand the specific items relating to “Iron Safe” and Rio Tinto’s ongoing Health & Safety awareness and training programs.

Ray Cooke advised the LMCD Occupational Health & Safety Management team about specific training he felt would benefit directly employed LMCD staff.

21 October 2011

Ray Cooke (TASC) visited Port Hedland for a 2 day Occupational Health & Safety review. During his visit, Ray spent the first day updating LMCD Management staff and direct employees about specific amendments and updates to the company's Safety Management System. All LMCD staff members had the opportunity to discuss its workability and user friendliness for all construction procedures LMCD undertake on a daily basis.

During the second day, the heads of all the main LMCD subcontractors spent the day at a one-day OHS workshop discussing the updated LMCD Safety Management System and they too had the opportunity to give their feedback and add additional items they felt needed to be included.

Before Ray Cooke left Port Hedland, a thorough review of all LMCD’s current live sites was undertaken to review and identify any possible safety hazards and better Health and Safety Management techniques that could be implemented.
