South Hedland Primary School Fencing Project 2011
LMCD Holdings Pty Ltd have recently become involved in the South Hedland Primary Schools Fencing Project. The project, a BHP initiative, involves supplying and installing fencing to three primary schools in the South Hedland area. BHP have supplied each of schools the fencing materials and organised contracting teams, designers and a project manager for each of the schools.
Liam Wilson, assigned as the Baler Primary School's Designer & Project Manager asked Len McDonnell if LMCD Holdings Pty Ltd would like to be involved and contribute to the scheme. Len was more than happy to become involved and with one of his main sub-contractors, Winfield Construction, they have helped by providing labour (free of charge) for the erection of the Baler Primary School’s perimeter fencing.
Len said “It was LMCD’s pleasure to be able to contribute to the project and nice to be able to give something to the South Hedland community. With two young children of my own, the fact that the contribution is for a local primary school, makes the assignment all the more rewarding.”

Fortescue Cricket Association
LMCD are proud to announce our sponsorship of the Fortescue Cricket Association for the upcoming 2011-2012 cricket season. Len McDonnell, Helen Farrell and all the LMCD team would like to wish all the teams, players, coach's and managers the best of luck and here's to a successful season of cricket. We look forward to following the teams progress throughout the season.
The Fortescue Cricket Association consists of four clubs. Three from the town of Tom Price; Crushers Cricket Club, Townsite Eagles Cricket Club, Rebels Cricket Club, and one club from Paraburdoo; Paraburdoo Cricket Club. Every Saturday afternoon clubs compete against each other in a 40 over a side one day format competition. Plus, for the first time this season, they have introduced a Twenty20 competition.
The association also has junior competitions; Have-A-Go cricket for kids ranging from 5 – 10 years old, and Have-A-Game is for under 14 juniors, both played on Saturday mornings.
Every year, in the last week of January, the association nominates a side to compete in the annual senior country week championships in Perth. Due to the popularity, 3 years ago the association nominated 2 sides to compete. In 2012 they have 2 sides for country week Fortescue 1 will play in the B Grade, and Fortescue 2 will play in the E Grade.
This season the association competed for the first time in the Twenty20 country cup competition held in Perth.

The Dragons
During 2011, LMCD have been involved, financially and in person with the Port Hedland women's water polo team "The Dragons". And firstly, we congratulate the Dragons on their recent achievement in becoming the 2011 Fast Fives Premiers.

In addition to team sponsorship, we also individually support one of the Dragons team players; Kimmy Cooper, whose talents were recognised at the recent Countries Championships held in Bunbury. Kimmy was selected to play at the Australian Country Championships being held in Newcastle, NSW.
LMCD will be assisting Kimmy with her travel arrangements and we wish her well at the Championships. Our very own General Manager, Helen Farrell was also picked to play at the Championships, but due to her busy schedule, she is unable to attend.
Its an amazing achievement Helen - Well done!
